Tongji University is a top-ranking university in Shanghai that was established in 1907 by the German government together with German doctors in Shanghai. Tongji is one of China’s longest-standing, most selective, and prestigious institutions under Project 985 and Project 211.

CSC Scholarship
CSC scholarship is offered to students who are not Chinese citizens and who are willing to undertake the undergraduate degree programs in Tongji University or its affiliated hospitals. The university will offer an allowance of 2000 RMB per month for the duration of study, which is commensurate with that offered by other universities in China. The university also offers Chinese language courses to international students.
A total number of 100 scholarships are offered for the academic year of 2025. The applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, who are aged between 18 to 30 years. The applicants should have completed their high school before September 1, 2025.
Tongji University Scholarship details
Tongji University scholarship is a fully-funded scholarship and the university will pay for tuition fees and provide a monthly allowance of 2,000 RMB. The scholarship also covers free accommodation, airfare and medical insurance.
The applicants must have a strong desire to study in China, excellent academic credentials, and adequate Chinese language abilities to attend Tongji University. IELTS (over 5.5 in each band) or TOEFL (over 90 in the internet-based test and/or 550 in the paper-based test) is required, as well as a high school diploma.
The university will offer a maximum of 100 scholarships yearly to international students, – the normal duration of study is four years and three months. In case of failure in any one academic year, the student may be allowed to retake the year or may be asked to leave Tongji University without being entitled to any refund.

Applying Procedure:
Applicants should submit the following materials by post.
- CV, including a list of academic papers and a list of awards received during your study abroad period.
- Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors at accredited universities with contact information.
- A copy of academic transcripts.
- A copy of degree certificates and proof of enrollment if already studying abroad for their first degree (degree certificate and an official letter from the school or organization can be accepted as proof).
- Over 80 high-resolution passport-style photos taken within the last six months.

University Results
Applicants to Tongji scholarship will be informed of their scholarship outcome on March 19, 2025.
