Shandong University is one of the largest universities in China by student population (57, 500 full-time students in 2009) it is supported directly by the national government. The university has received a national key designation from the official Chinese education ministry since 1960. It has eight campuses and has all but two headquartered in Jinan province. The newest campus is northeast of Qingdao’s port city. It was opened in September 2016 and its development is already underway. The College offers undergraduate and graduate programs in various academic spheres.

Shandong University is located in Jinan, Shandong Province. It was established in 1895, formerly known as Shandong Higher Normal School. In 1917, it changed its name to Jinan University and in 1922 became a comprehensive university with two single-subject colleges: the College of Liberal Arts and College of Sciences.

Currently, there are 23 schools with 81 departments at Shandong University with a strong focus on engineering and technology studies. The total enrollment is over 40 thousand students. The library provides 1 million books which include Chinese classics, foreign language books and rare historical documents.

Each year the university sets up new scholarships for particularly talented high school graduates or undergraduate students based on their academic excellence or general performance other than GPA (Grade Point Average).

There are now 11 secondary colleges including the School of Economics & Management, College of Art, College of Natural Sciences, Law School, Conservatory of Music, Medical School, etc., 12 affiliated hospitals including No.1 Affiliated Hospital which is ranked the 4th Class National Grade A Hospital by Ministry of Public Health in 2007. Some other are No.3 Affiliated Hospital – one national base for training doctors graduated from medical schools; No.4 Affiliated Hospital –one national base for teaching medicine; No.6 Affiliated Hospital – one national base for teaching medicine; No.7 Affiliated Hospital –one national base for teaching medicine; No.8 affiliated hospital – the largest provincial comprehensive hospital, etc..

Shandong CSC Scholarship (2025) is a comprehensive grant for undergraduate – master – professor and Doctor of Education programs. Programs offered for degrees are available only in the Chinese language whereas those offered at master’s courses and doctorate degrees are available in both Chinese and English. There are 18 disciplines within which the undergraduate student can earn a degree. The duration of this scholarship is per the course duration as it varies across all universities. Students get a great influence of studying and travel abroad through the CSC scholarship in 2025 available to Chinese students.
